The Diploma Programme offers students the Dutch A-programme, standard level: Literatuur SSST (School Supported Self-Taught Programme). This is a two-part program and is not intended for school use. The student will be required to take the exam in the middle of the school year where he will be assigned to an external World Wide IB Dutch tutor.
Frequently asked questions about International Baccalaureate
SSST is a pathway in which a student takes Language A: Literature at Standard Level in a language that their own school does not offer as a regular subject. The school remains responsible for the official programme and assigns appropriate guidance and supervision within the school. World Wide Dutch Tutor can additionally support the student independently as an external tutor.
In certain situations, this may be possible through the School-Supported Self-Taught (SSST) route, but only if the student’s own school supports and correctly organises this arrangement. Therefore, always discuss the options with the school’s DP Coordinator first.
No. World Wide Dutch Tutor is not an IB World School and does not independently offer the Diploma Programme. We provide independent, external support for the Dutch language subject only. Our students take Dutch A: Literature through their own school. The school remains responsible for the official programme, registration, assessment and awarding of the diploma.
DP support is intended for students in the final two years of international secondary education, usually between the ages of 16 and 19, who are already taking Dutch A: Literature SL through their own school.
The preparatory programme is intended for students aged approximately 12 to 16 who have not yet started the Diploma Programme. They first strengthen their Dutch language skills, literary knowledge, analytical skills and study skills, so that they are well prepared to begin more advanced literature studies.
The student will usually have one 60-minute individual online lesson per week at a fixed day and time. A different frequency can be arranged when the student’s circumstances require it.
Yes, when necessary and when agreed upon with the relevant parties. The tutor can liaise with the school coordinator regarding planning, progress and practical arrangements. Formal responsibility remains with the school.
Yes. World Wide Dutch Tutor supports students worldwide and has teachers available across different time zones.
