IB Middle Year Program (MYP)
Dutch lessons through World Wide IB Dutch stimulate both the Dutch language and literature, aiming to equip students with various linguistic, analytical, and communicative skills. Different aspects of the Dutch language are presented within a theme or period. Skills are practiced in various ways. All components are assessed diversely: written assignments, oral role-play, debates, performances, tests and exams, research reports, peer and self-assessments, etc. Both formative and summative assessments are used. Formative assessment means that students receive graded feedback on their work to help them improve it. Sometimes, they are also involved in this assessment, for example, by assessing themselves. Summative assessment is a final assignment that is graded with a score.
The assessment is criteria-based, meaning students are assessed based on published learning objectives. The criteria are based on the learning objectives imposed by the IB.

Students during lessons
During the lessons, there is also room for self-development and reflection. Children learn that they are important themselves. They learn what they can do for a good living environment and a good future.
Many IB world schools use this student profile to give students insight into how they stand in the world, what their role in the community is, and to convey that they have responsibilities towards themselves and their environment.
The progress and goal of the Dutch lessons are discussed with the parents and the student.
